D33 Board - Letter to our Members during COVID-19 Social Distancing

We hope all of you are healthy and safe. These are definitely challenging and scary times for all of us and for now we are just taking it one day at a time. Please know that we are all here for each other and we are all in this together.

In order to help suppress the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we have cancelled our March and April club meetings at Hellas.  While we may not be able to meet as a club for now, what we must remember are the reasons that we work together as a Democratic club: to elect more Democrats in D33 and Anne Arundel County, and to protect our communities from dangerous and incompetent Republican politicians, such as Trump. His minimization of the threat and his lack of urgency and competence, with complicity from GOP leadership, are the reasons that the United States has become so vulnerable to this latest global pandemic.

Although we are not currently able to join together as a group, there are still many things we can do from home that, collectively, can have a huge impact on being able to elect more Democrats in D33, Anne Arundel County, and all over the country. Here are some of the ways you can help:

1.) VOTE! Make sure you are registered to vote, and, as many of your neighbors are doing, register to Vote By Mail (aka Absentee). You can find information about registering to Vote By Mail at the Maryland Board of Elections Absentee Voting: Information and Instructions for the 2020 Elections website. NOTE THAT MARYLAND PRIMARIES HAVE BEEN PUSHED! Early Voting for the Primary Election is Thursday, May 21, 2020 through Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 10 am until 8 pm. Election Day is now Tuesday, June 2 from 7 am until 8 pm.

2.) Encourage others to VOTE! Many of your neighbors in D33 are signing up at SwingLeft.org to help with letter writing campaigns. Sending personal letters is a proven way to register voters and boost voter turnout. And in this time of social distancing, letter writing can supply positive vibes to both the sender and recipient. Please go to SwingLeft.org/Take-Action to find out how you can get involved.

The D33 Club Board will continue sharing ways we can all stay engaged and working towards the common goal of getting more Democrats elected.  It is our hope that we will be able to reconvene at Hellas for the Thursday May 21 meeting.

Please stay safe!
